Biography
Born and raised in eastern Connecticut, Ron received his undergraduate degree in Art Education from Southern Connecticut State University where he studied painting under Howard Fussiner. He received his graduate degree in art Education from Central Connecticut State University. Ron taught art in the Vernon, Connecticut public school system for 32 years before retiring and devoting more time to his studio pursuits. He specializes in landscapes and waterscapes, primarily utilizing the medium of oils. He draws inspiration from his surrounding landscapes and travels. Ron showed his work regularly in New England until he moved to Detroit, Michigan in 2013. He adopted a new style of work that incorporated the elements of abstracting the landscape. While living in the Detroit area, he was represented by the Vivid Art Gallery in Winnetka, Illinois, just outside of Chicago. Three of his pieces were acquired by the Kresge Foundation headquartered in Troy, Michigan, for their permanent collection. While in Detroit, he was a member of the Detroit Artists Market where he was a featured artist and frequently exhibited in shows. In 2017, he relocated to Ithaca, New York where he exhibited in local shows and galleries. Ron is a full time resident of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina. He is a member of the Associated Artists of Southport where he has exhibited at the Franklin Square Gallery. He is represented by the Sunset River Gallery in Calabash, North Carolina.
